The Ring Video Doorbell Pro is a wired doorbell and requires that you have an existing working doorbell.
The Ring Video Doorbell 2 can be powered by either your current doorbell wiring or via a rechargeable battery. When using battery power, the Ring Chime and Chime Pro can be placed in any outlet to bring your doorbell chime anywhere, as well as extend your WiFi network.
If your doorbell requires additional work, our techs will quote the additional cost.
As part of our service guarantee, your OnTech technician will show you how to use your Ring Video Doorbell Pro.
Unfortunately, the Ring Video Doorbells are not compatible with wireless door chimes or any chime/intercom system using a DC transformer.
For a wired doorbell, the Ring Video Doorbell 2 Requires a transformer operating between 8V and 24V AC only.
Tip: A traditional doorbell system uses very little power, but Ring has specific power requirements so the camera can continuously record video.
If your doorbell requires additional non-standard add-ons (e.g. required doorbell transformer) our smart home technician will assess the work and quote the additional cost.
