What smart doorbells does OnTech install?
We install all Smart Doorbells, both battery powered and wired.
What if I don’t currently have a doorbell?
A functioning doorbell is required at the installation area for hard-wired video doorbells. If you do not have an existing hard-wired doorbell system, we can install any battery power doorbell.
If your doorbell requires additional work, our techs will quote the additional cost.
What's not included in the Smart Doorbell Service?
Additional add-ons like replacing your transformer, installing a power adapter or other non-standard items which the technician can assess and quote at an additional cost.
Installation of a power adapter may be possible if you don’t currently have a functioning hard-wired doorbell which the technician can assess and quote at an additional cost.
What if my installed smart doorbell is no longer working?
For smart doorbells that have been installed and are not functioning properly, we offer a smart doorbell diagnostic service.
Can I still use a video doorbell if I have an intercom or front gate control?
These systems typically won’t work with the Google Nest Doorbell if your doorbell is wired to that type of system. However, you can install the Google Nest Doorbell with the optional Indoor Power Adapter. This adapter lets you plug your doorbell into an indoor or outdoor power outlet instead of wiring it directly to the system. You can get visitor notifications on your phone or Google Assistant-enabled speaker.
Ring Video Doorbell 2 is not compatible with intercom systems and DC transformers.
What if my transformer doesn't have enough voltage?
Google Nest Doorbells needs to be powered by wires delivering 16 - 24 V AC, and at least 10 VA (in North America), and Ring Video Doorbell 2 requires a transformer operating between 8V and 24V AC only.
Tip: A traditional doorbell system uses very little power, but both Nest Hello and Ring have specific power requirements so the camera can continuously record video. If your doorbell requires additional work, our technicians can also perform Smart Doorbell Power Adapter and Smart Doorbell Transformer Installations.
These additional installations are discounted to $94.99 each when performed alongside a Smart Doorbell Installation.
